Will power seems to be the biggest challenge for people wanting to lose weight. This is why there are weight loss meetings and groups that helps each other to overcome the urges to eat foods that are causing you to gain weight.

So, how do you increase your will power and get the fat loss that you want?

Let’s start by asking yourself, “What do you want?” What is your goal? Do you have a definite fat loss goal or do you just want to lose some weight? It’s important to be specific. It is also just as important to write it down.

Next, you need to find yourself a motivational will power aid. Something that will drive you towards your goal. Is there something that you would NEVER eat? What is the most disgusting food that you think would make you sick just thinking about eating? How about a can of some wet dog or cat food? This does it for many people because the smell itself makes many people cringe.

Last, you need a friend who will hold you accountable to your goal. You and a friend can also hold each other accountable if your friend also wants to lose weight.

Now you simply ask your friend to hold you accountable to your weight loss goals or you hold each other accountable. If you do not succeed you will have to eat that disgusting food in front of your friend.

People will always say they don’t have the will power but you need to make it painful enough to tell your will power “I will succeed” and your will power will comply. Your brain does not like pain and the pain of eating that disgusting food will over power the pleasure of eating that fattening dessert.

The key to making this work is that you must choose a food that you would never eat. If you choose a food that you might be okay with eating then this will not work. You are giving yourself a way out. You must pick a disgusting food. If you don’t then you’re not serious about losing weight.

Boost Your Metabolism and Lose Weight

Ok. We all know that in order to burn off more fat you need to increase your metabolism. Well here are 5 tips that I use to increase my metabolism and burn off the fat.

1. Exercise in the morning – If you don’t exercise when you first get up you have no idea what it can do for your energy level. Even a 20 minute walk can increase your metabolism and start your day off right. If you can go to the gym and get a good workout this would be the optimum time to do it.

2. Don’t skip breakfast – I hear people say they drink coffee instead of eating breakfast to lose weight. There are several problems with this thinking. The first is coffee is not that good for you. You are starting your day with caffeine, sugar and 0 nutrients. You need to eat breakfast but don’t overdue it. Eat a light breakfast that won’t weight you down and make you tired. Plus if you exercise when you woke up you won’t feel like eating a big breakfast.

3. Drink plenty of water – Lack of water or dehydration causes a lack of energy. You become tired and your body slows down. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Hydration is one of the best ways to keep your body energized. Stay away from sports drinks, soda and coffee. While the sugar and caffeine may give you a boost it certainly doesn’t help with hydration. The sugar will actually make you more dehydrated.

4. Eat smaller meals throughout the day – We’ve heard this many times but it really is true. It is better to eat 6 meals a day than to eat 3 meals. What is most important to remember is that you MUST eat smaller portions. By eating throughout the day you are giving your body a continuous flow of nutrients.

5. Consume more raw foods – Why are raw foods important? Raw foods are more natural to your body and therefore they are easier to digest and easier to cleanse. By eating foods that are cooked or processed you are in a sense dumping a huge load on your digestive system. Those foods need to be digested so your body uses its energy to aid digestion and you feel tired and want to sit in a chair and rest. Raw foods do not have this effect on your body. You are able to take the energy they provide and begin using it immediately without the urge to take a long nap.
